Happy Weekend gang!!
I don't think I have ever been so pleased to see a Friday arrive. Donna grew weary of the question I repeated every day this week - Is it Friday today?? It was a ten day long week for sure!
Quiet night at home tonight - candles, fire (on the TV!), holiday tunes, the tree lights shining - and a visit with Juliana and Jaimie. I was on the ball but your dad kept trying to doze off! (:
Off to Moncton for the day Saturday - a little market, a little Christmas shopping, and the Livingstone/Thompson pot luck at Cindi and Darryl's. Looking forward to the min-vacation!
I thought you might enjoy a shot of our most traditional Christmas decoration. This manger scene has lived a long life and has seen many mantles, tables, and buffets. My mother had this in her house as a girl and took it with her when she was married. In our house it sat in a place of honor above the tv each year and I claimed ownership of it by arranging and rearranging the figures on a daily basis through December. Strange how history repeats itself . . . I am surprised I have held on to it this long. If Kelly lived closer I suspect my busted up Gloria and her Baby Jesus gang would be long gone by now. I look back (mostly fondly) at the tug of arranging war that Kelly and I indulged in each year. It is just not the same coming home and finding the animals have not moved in or out of the stable, and that Mary and Joseph have not slipped out for a coffee and left the Christ child at the mercy of the rabid donkey!
What would Christmas be without traditions? Some that thread their way through every year, and some that are put aside, but remain warm memories.
Feeling grateful for all the bits and pieces, like the figures of an old nativity scene, that make Christmas a unique and heartfelt time of year.
Have a stupendous pre-Christmas weekend Be safe in travels!!
xoxoxo
